Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. James Hogan has years of training and experience in spinal adjustment.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Kinesio(TM) Taping

The tape and the technique are rather distinct from traditional athletic taping procedures and materials. Athletic taping is typically done with a non-elastic tape which will be wrapped around joints to stabilize them and restrict motion.
Kinesio(TM) taping has a much broader range of applications. The tape is 140% the elasticity of human skin. By skillfully applying the tape to specific structures with a particular amount of stretch on the tape different effects can be achieved. Some of these effects include: muscle inhibition, muscle facilitation, increased circulation, increased lymphatic drainage (to reduce swelling), pain relief, functional correction, and increased range of motion. The effect that there is the most evidence to support is lymphatic drainage.

Kinesio(TM) Taping techniques can be used to encourage the reduction of swelling, edema, and bruising. There is also evidence to indicate that it can improve the proprioception in some joints possibly reducing the likelihood of an injury such as an ankle sprain.

ABCC_trigger_pt.jpg Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Sometimes massage and trigger point therapy are performed together.  Trigger point therapy is also called myofascial trigger point therapy.  Trigger points are areas of tenderness in a muscle.
There are two basic types of trigger points: active and latent.
Active Trigger points cause muscular pain and will refer pain and tenderness to another area of the body when pressure is applied. Latent trigger points only exhibit pain when compressed they do not refer pain to other areas of the body.  Latent trigger points are believed to be one of the causes of stiff joints and restricted range of motion of old age.

Traction

Whether applied manually or mechanically, the benefits of traction are similar. It is an excellent therapy choice to reduce pressure on discs. Traction effectively reduces joint and nerve pain, pressure, and inflammation, caused by bulging or herniated discs. This procedure is quite comfortable, and lasts several minutes.
